Allergens and dietary

How we handle allergens, what halal and kosher labels mean on Ghochen, and how to filter for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free.

Frequently asked

Common questions on this topic.

How do I see allergens for a dish?

Every dish page lists the 14 statutory UK allergens declared by the cook. Tap the allergens panel for the full list and any cross-contamination notes. If something is not listed, message the cook before ordering.

Is halal food on Ghochen actually halal?

Cooks who mark dishes as halal are confirming the meat supplier is halal-certified. Where the cook holds a certificate, we display it on the partner page. If you need a specific certifier (HMC, HFA, etc.), filter by it on the cook page.

Do you have vegetarian and vegan filters?

Yes. On the search page tap "Dietary" and pick vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, or gluten-free. Filters apply across cuisines so you can find Polish vegetarian or Nigerian vegan in the same view.

I have a serious allergy. Can I trust the labels?

Cook declarations are reliable but home and small kitchens can have shared equipment. If your allergy is severe, message the cook before ordering and confirm cross-contamination handling. For high-risk cases we recommend ordering from kitchens with a dedicated prep area, which we mark on the listing.

How do I filter for nut-free or dairy-free?

Use the dietary filter on search and pick "no nuts" or "no dairy". The result list excludes any dish where the cook has flagged that allergen as present.
